2017 Must-Attend Festivals

NoisePop Music/ Film Festival:
San Francisco
February 17th- 27th
Based in San Francisco, NoisePop Music and Film festival is set up in multiple venues throughout the city. I’m excited to explore the Fillmore, the Independent and the Rickshaw Stop, which are only a few of the many venues hosting  this 10-day festival. I am also interested in checking out the film scene, which will be something new for me.

Coachella (Goldenvoice):
Indio, CA – Empire Polo Fields
April 14- 16th/ 21st- 23rd

So as we all know, Coachella is THE festival of all festivals. Needless to say, I’m very excited to check it out yet very hesitant to raise my expectations. The word bouji gets thrown around a lot out here. But who wouldn’t want to see Beyoncé dancing around on stage preggers… with twin qweens!

Stagecoach (Goldenvoice):

Indio, CA- Empire Polo fields
April 28-30
Back again and ready to dust off the ole cowboy boots for this one. Last year I rolled up in a van with the band SUSTO and experienced the amazing Artists Compound. This year I come full circle, to now working the event. You’ll be seeing me front and center for Cindy Lauper, you can count on that!

hangout

Hangout Festival (Goldenvoice):
Gulf Shores, AL
May 19th- 21st
I can’t begin to describe how excited I am to get back to the Gulf Shores for this festival. This site is one of my absolute favorites. Sprawled across the coastline on white sandy beaches, stages are set up maybe 100 ft from the water. The sand, the salty air, the craft beer, and the music make this festival a must-attend! The Pink Pony better be ready for me with a cold beer and that buffalo chicken dip!

Lightening in a Bottle (DOLAB):
San Antonia Rec Area, Bradley, CA
May 24th- 29th
So this is a festival on my list not because of the line-up but because of the atmosphere. Apparently if I want to get down and dirty on a campground this is the festival I need to be at out here on the West Coast.

bonnroo

Bonnaroo (LiveNation/ AC/ Superfly):
Manchester, TN
June 8th- 11th
My Happy Place! … I feel as though that’s all I really have to say. Bonnaroo is my home away from home, and I’m ready to get back for the 4th year in a row. 80,000 of the nicest and happiest people in the world all together in one giant field running around half naked high on life, music, and who knows what else. Where High Five Fridays exist and the motto becomes “Rage, Rest, Repeat”.

Firefly (Red Frog/ Goldenvoice):
Dover, Delaware
June 15- 18th
I need Firefly to redeem themselves for me. My experience in 2015 wasn’t exactly the greatest. With a monsoon warping through Dover midway through the weekend, the ground became one huge mud pit… especially the campgrounds. Needless to say being covered in mud for a solid 72 hours was very rough. Firefly has yet to disappoint with the line up though. In 2015 seeing Paul McCarty perform for the first time is still my most memorable show to date.

FYF (Goldenvoice):
Exposition Park, LA, CA
July 22-23rd
2017 information hasn’t been posted for this one yet but knowing Goldenvoice it’s going to be a festival to look out for. Last year it was bigger and better then ever with artists like Kendrick Lamar, Tame Impala, Mac Demarco, LCD Soundsystem. Knowing that the festival was started in 2004 by an 18-year-old just makes me that much more interested in checking it out this year

panorma1

Panorama (Goldenvoice)
Randall’s Island Park, New York
July 28- 30
New York has a piece of my heart. I never go too long without a trip to the big apple. With family and friends scattered throughout the state finding a reason to make a trip out there isn’t hard especially when you see the line up for this festival. Frank Ocean, Solange, and Alt-J are favorites of mine and must see live performers for all music lovers. There is no way I will be anywhere else that weekend but in Randall’s Park.

Lollapolooza
Grand Park, Chicago
Aug 3-6th
This is a festival I have told myself over and over to make it out to. Yet every year it comes and goes. With a handful of friends residing in Chi-town, it still blows my mind that I haven’t made it to this festival. This is the year I finally get out there and check out what the windy city has to offer.

Splash House
Palm Springs
August 11-13
SPRING BREAK FOREVER!! I never thought I’d be able to experience a party like a Spring Break party ever again after graduating college but this festival is one epic pool party. Blow up beach balls, bikinis, margaritas, and DJs will make this week one for the books… Mom you may not want to read that post when it comes. *wink wink*

Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival
Exposition Park, LA, CA
November 12-13

Last but not least I plan to end the festival season the same way I did in 2016… stuffing my face with carnival food, playing mini golf, and learning the latest rap songs at Camp Flog Gnaw. If you have ever laid your eyes on Tyler, the Creator–as bright and well dressed as usual–then you can picture how this festival looks immediately. A combination of amusement rides and carnival games, this music festival has it all.
