I also reside on the West Coast. Way up in Washington state (and no, not even in Seattle), which is definitely not as cool as L.A. but alas, it was never in my plans to move here. I followed my heart (oh yeah, real cheesy) to Washington. My fiancé, Andrew, was stationed here with the Air Force, and after almost 27 years of living in South Carolina, I packed my bags, shipped a few boxes and headed to the Pacific Northwest. I spent numerous and I mean numerous undergraduate years bouncing around from college to technical college and finally landed back home at The College of Charleston. I would like to think of myself as the female Van Wilder except I was broke, and it took me forever to graduate because I had to hold down a full-time job, but I digress. I met Kim and Ashlyn during one of my technical college jaunts in Columbia, SC, and thank the good Lord I did, because where would I be now if I hadn’t? Hmm, who knows, and I really don’t want to know the answer to that question. I grew up in what used to be the small town of Summerville, SC, which is about 20 minutes outside of the glorious Charleston I know you’ve all heard about. Every time I go home, Summerville has grown about 10,000 people (or that’s what it feels like), and as much as I complained about growing up in a small town, I wish it was still that way. I’ve always dreamed of traveling the world, but I didn’t always think it was possible. What really fueled my passion for travel was when I made the decision to study abroad in Spain. Outside of a Caribbean cruise, I had never been outside of the country. Let’s talk about culture shock, shall we? After those four amazing, adventurous, and sometimes difficult months (long distance relationships are for the birds), I knew I had to see the world. I’m talking about the whole damn world. All seven continents, you heard me right. Now all I have to do is figure out how to fund all the adventures and find the time, while simultaneously reading all the books and still remembering to call my mother. Ha, jokes on me.

Quick Trivia. . .

Jessica in three words: Are snacks involved?

If you could live anywhere in the world right now where would it be: NOT A FAIR QUESTION. I’m with Kim on this one, right now I really want to be in London. Which is funny because I also want to live somewhere really rural (because, sometimes I don’t like people), but there’s something about London. I just feel like I need to live there at least for a year.

Dream destination: AGAIN NOT FAIR. EVERYWHERE. But, if I must narrow it down, again, I’m with Kim- Giraffe Manor in Nairobi, Kenya because giraffes are the best animals in existence. Also, Antartica, Paris, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Norway, Ecuador, Chile (specifically Patagonia). So, basically anywhere and everywhere. I want to be there.

Favorite book: Ok, now it’s going to seem like I have no original thoughts of my own. HARRY POTTER IS MY LIFEBLOOD. Forever and always my absolute favorite. Also, The Kite Runner (because oh my gosh, Khaled, heartbreak much?), To Kill A Mockingbird, Crooked Kingdom. Ok, whoops, one book? I. Just. Can’t. Choose. And you can’t make me!

Favorite Television show(s): The Office, I have watched it at least 3 times all the way through. Parenthood, oh my word, all the feels. Charmed, come on. Who doesn’t love Charmed? STRANGER THINGS, and Sherlock. Downton Abbey, DAME MAGGIE SMITH people! Have I mentioned, I love TV?

Favorite movie: I’m really indecisive, I literally can’t even (sorry, I had to) pick one movie. ALL HARRY POTTER MOVIES, duh (well, The Prisoner of Azkaban was my least favorite. Damn you, Alfonso!). Remember The Titans, Steel Magnolias- a blessing to mankind (drink your juice, Shelby!). And I have to throw in Lawless, because, Tom Hardy. That is all.

Favorite music genre: This is hard, I have favorites in numerous genres. I love Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert. I love Drake. I love Celine Dion. I love Selena (Quintanilla-Perez, not Gomez, RIP to La Reina). I love Adele. LIKE, I LOVE ADELE. I also love The Beatles, Queen, Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson (RIP to so many greats).  So, I like what I like, when I like it, and that’s that!

Favorite food: Would it be too stereotypical to say fried chicken? I mean, it’s true though. I love it. By itself. In nugget form. On a salad. Breast, wing, or thigh. I love it. Oh, and french fries. Blame it on the South, but fried food makes my world go ‘round. Oh and pizza, because, bruh, ‘za.

Favorite quote: “You do what you love, and fuck the rest” – Little Miss Sunshine. Classy, I know.
